However, we will still need the official documentation from you once you receive it.

The law permits the purchase of number plates as a gift, so the names on both documents do not need to match.
You can use your own ID and the entitlement certificate belonging to a family member or friend to purchase number plates from us.

Why do we do these checks?
As a DVLA-registered number plate supplier, it is our responsibility to check your legal entitlement to the registration you have asked us to manufacture.
You need to provide two documents: one that proves your name and address, and another that demonstrates your entitlement to the registration.

Do I need to submit documents if I have ordered Show Plates?
No, you don’t need to send documents if you have ordered Show Plates.

If you have ordered Show Plates, please disregard this email, as it is automatically sent to all customers.


Which documents do I need?

You can use the following to confirm your name and address:
1. Driving licence, with or without a photo (doesn’t have to be issued in the UK)
2. Utility bill, Council Tax or rates bill in Northern Ireland (from the last 6 months)
3. Bank or building society statement (from the last 6 months)
4. National identity card (issued by the government of a state or territory other than the United Kingdom)

You can use the following to confirm your entitlement to the registration:
1. Vehicle registration certificate (V5C)
2. New keeper slip (green slip)
3. Certificate of entitlement (V750) to the number
4. Retention document (V778)
5. Renewal reminder for vehicle tax or SORN (V11)
6. Temporary registration certificate (V379)
7. Number plate authorisation certificate (V948) with an official stamp from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA)
8. Electronic number plate authorisation certificate (eV948) or an electronic trailer number plate authorisation certificate (eV948/2)
9. UK trailer registration certificate (VTRC)


How do I submit my documents?

Document reference numbers
You can submit your document reference numbers after entering your order number and email address on our documents form.

In the subject line, please include your order number and full name, e.g., 201459 Joe Bloggs.

Postal
We accept documents by post. Please send your original documents to the following address: Professor Plates, 14 Laurel Lane, West Drayton, UB7 7TU.

Please do not call us to ask whether your documents have been accepted or not. If you haven’t heard from us within 24 hours, your documents have been approved.
We will only contact you if there is a problem.
